How to make your TH350 Shift and live up to it's full potential w/o a kit.
Tried and true.
One of the, if not the most widely used transmissions for performance use is the GM TH350. In this article we will examine how to increase the performance of the common TH350 trans by installing a homemade shift kit.
The stage 1 is rather complicated compared to the stage two upgrade step. They can be run independently of each other. To begin remove the pan and valvebody being careful not to lose any balls or springs. Take the seperator plate and drill the holes noted in the picture to 3/16 or an inch and reinstall. That is stage 1 of your HomeMade Shiftkit.
To install tire screeching shifts continue on with stage two of your HomeMade TH350 Shiftkit. OR if Gaskets may be a problem this mod can be intalled in minutes without fluid loss or new gaskets. You will need to pull the plug right by the intermediate accumulator cover which is located midway on the passenger side of the transmission just above the pan.
Simply pull the plug and install a 5/16" dowel approxamately 1" long in the hole and reinstall the plug.
You are now done installing your HomeMade TH350 Shiftkit!
